About the team behind Kiwi Custom Saddles
Over 20 years ago, I had the opportunity to make my very first saddle, sparking a passion for saddle making, Western riding, and helping others find the perfect saddle for both themselves and their magnificent horses.
In this photo, you can see me, Michelle Lake-Sivan, riding my wade saddle on my big grey mare. Beside me is the very first saddle I made—still strong and just like new after all these years. From this beginning, Kiwi Custom Saddles was created, with the goal of crafting well-made, perfectly fitting saddles for riders and their horses.
I’m married to Ekel Sivan, an accomplished rider and renowned Israeli filmmaker with over 120 television programs, children’s shows, and documentaries to his credit. He has also produced short films about Horse Haven and a film documenting my journey from childhood to today, available via Sivan Productions.
Together, we run Horse Haven Riding Academy and Sport Horse Stud in Tauranga/Katikati. We’ve helped countless people of all ages learn about horses and develop their riding skills. Our team of 10 riding horses each has tack carefully fitted by me, ensuring comfort and peak performance.
Horse Haven also runs a breeding program, producing outstanding riding horses and ponies. Our stallions include ICEMAN, a stunning Cremello, and SABBABA, a remarkable Palomino son of ICEMAN. Alongside our broodmares and young stock, we continue to nurture exceptional horses for the future.
