It all started a long time ago ....
Having the opportunity to make my very own saddle over 20yrs ago, started my passion for saddle making, riding in western saddles and helping others getting the right saddle that fits both themselves and their beautiful companions the mighty and glorious horse !
So yes, this photo here shows off me (Michelle Lake-Sivan) riding in my wade saddle, on my big grey mare ! And on the right the very first saddle I made, and it is very strong and just like new in so many ways all these 20 years later. Kiwi Custom Saddles was started quite a few years ago, with the goal of making available well made and great fitting saddles.
Michelle is married to Ekel Sivan, who also is an accomplished rider. Michelle and Ekel operate Horse Haven Riding Academy and Sport Horse Stud, in Tauranga/Katikati where they have helped countless numbers of people of all ages with learning about horses and becoming accomplished riders. Horse Haven is running a team of 10 riding horses, each horse has all its tack especially fitted by Michelle who is very particular that everything fits as it should to avoid discomfort or discontent from her horses so they perform at their best.
Ekel is a well known Israeli Film maker, having made 120 Television films, childrens TV programs and documentaries. Ekel also has made a number of short films about Horse Haven and also a film about Michelle from childhood to today, they are available for viewing here, at Sivan Productions.
Horse Haven also has a breeding program and have bred many outstanding riding Horses & ponies, currently having two stallions, ICEMAN a stunning Cremello, and SABBABA an outstanding Palomino the son of ICEMAN. We also have numerous broodmares off course and young stock.

After many years of riding and training horses, it is our pleasure to be able to pass on our knowledge and skill in western saddle fitting. After hearing so many people tell me how many saddles they bought that did not fit their horse, we decided to offer a saddle fitting service also. We will not sell you a saddle if we do not believe it is a match for your horse. Over the years we have had many many happy customers, that just love our saddles.
